Orangetheory® Fitness is one of the fastest-growing global fitness franchises with studios located throughout the United States as well as internationally.  We are a scientifically designed, one-of-a-kind, group personal training workout broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training. Led by highly skilled coaches, each Orangetheory Fitness workout incorporates endurance, strength and power elements through a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, TRX® suspension training and free weights.   We have over 1,200 locations open in the US.


We are looking for a passionate and determined Data Scientist to join the ML and Analytics team at Orangetheory® Fitness. This is an entry level position perfect for a recent graduate looking for an amazing opportunity to join a leader in the fitness franchise industry. This team is a rapidly growing part of the organization and is focused on delivering tangible and transformative data driven use cases to business stakeholders across the company. If you are keen on getting in on projects on the ground floor, applying ML in various part of a business and gaining experience understanding and owning processes behind ML driven experiences from conception to deployment this is the team for you. The Data Scientist will use an arsenal of predictive modelling, advanced analytics, and iterative experimentation to provide actionable analytical solutions for various business problems. A core focus will be on drawing insights from large and complex data sets and using these insights to drive analytical thinking at all levels of the company.


·       Translate ambiguous business problems into data driven solutions

·       Ensure analytics tools and methods used on projects are robust and of the highest quality

·       Collaborate with business units to provide technical guidance related to AI/ML based models

·       Design, prototype and build innovative predictive models in production environments

·       Demonstrate a strong understanding of computer science fundamental, data structures and ML algorithms

·       Identify the appropriate data sources for solving specific problems

·       Collaborate with Data Engineer(s) to support data modelling and testing during projects, and incorporating advanced analytics into ongoing business processes

·       Develop internal analytics capabilities and best practices (models, standards, tools), and share learnings with peers

·       Ensure frequent communication with stakeholders to drive use case development and manage expectations of model limitations

·       Provide key input during use case definition phase to ensure feasibility and value potential

·       Conduct advance exploratory data analysis to discover statistically significant patterns and opportunities in our data

·       Be an adopter and driver of data governance standards and practices

·       Contribute to an analytics and data driven mindset across the company


      Bachelor’s in Data Science, Statistics, CS, Mathematics or related field; Master’s preferred

      Experience in machine learning, analytics and/or data science

      Expertise in advanced analytical techniques (e.g. descriptive statistics, machine learning, optimization, pattern recognition, cluster analysis, segmentation analysis, etc.)

      Experience wrangling datasets using statistical languages like R and/or Python

      Experience designing, prototyping and building predictive models

      Experience working with common ML frameworks like scikit-learn, keras, tensorflow, etc.

      Experience querying large and complex datasets using SQL

      Experience working with large data sets and distributed computing tools (e.g. Hadoop, Hive, Spark, AWS Lambda, etc.)

      Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)

      Experience communicating analytical findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders

      Experience with experiment design and execution (AB Testing)

This position currently has no direct supervisory responsibilities

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
