Orangetheory® Fitness is one of the fastest-growing global fitness franchises with studios located throughout the United States as well as internationally.  We are a scientifically designed, one-of-a-kind, group personal training workout broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training. Led by highly skilled coaches, each Orangetheory Fitness workout incorporates endurance, strength and power elements through a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, TRX® suspension training and free weights.   We have over 1,200 locations open in the US. We currently operate 150+ International studios in 22 countries with more than 400 new fitness studios under development across the nation and internationally.


The Database Developer’s role requires an aptitude in relational database skills, database theory, and transactional database systems.  Required tasks for the role include database development and operational aspects, which will primarily align with the development efforts surrounding multiple application platforms within Orangetheory and the data integration between internal and external systems.  Tasks for this role will have clearly defined goals, but the paths to the best solutions are often unknown or highly variable. This requires self-directed investigation and an ability to work effectively within a team to present optional solutions and recommendations; a role ideal for the self-starter who enjoys innovation.


·       Development aspects including designing and creating new database schemas and related objects

·       Continuous integration, automation, change control, as well as scalable and performant designs

·       Able to work with large data sets and complex data models across internal and third-party platforms

·       Ability to migrate and cleanse data for consumption by Orangetheory applications and other ancillary processes based on business requirements and quality standards

·       Work closely with the product and development teams to build out the Orangetheory data infrastructure within the cloud using Amazon Web Services and other cloud-based technologies

·       Understanding of mobile, web-based applications and best practices for modeling and storing data from multiple sources and across multiple data storage mediums (Relational and NoSQL databases, as well as file storage solutions such as AWS S3)



·       Design and Develop database models and schemas utilizing best practices and the continuous integration/continuous deployment development pipeline

·       Develop stored procedures/views using MySQL and back-end ETL processes for data flow/ingestion for business systems and applications using scripting or relevant coding languages (i.e. Python, Java)

·       Develop and maintain data interfaces and data contracts between platforms

·       Collaborate on a regular basis with the product and development teams to design solutions, resolve issues within the database infrastructure, and execute on decisions to meet deliverables and SLAs

·       Participate in the planning and execution of application system deployments with multiple teams

·       Document database processes, data flows, and solutions effectively and communicate between teams

·       Ensure work/tasks assigned are completed within the defined timeframes



·       Strong MySQL development skills - writing stored procedures, views, and ETL processes across data multiple data sources leveraging cloud technologies within Amazon Web Services

·       Competency in designing databases to facilitate application requirements for scalability and performance

·       Possesses the aptitude to monitor, diagnose, and resolve performance issues within the data layer when necessary

·       Ability to work within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud landscape on MySQL databases

·       Can work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

·       Self-motivated, flexible, and innovative with ability to manage responsibilities in a time-critical manner

·       Strong analytical/troubleshooting skills with a high aptitude in problem solving and execution of solutions

·       Good interpersonal skills to interact team members, product owners, and technology leadership
